In 2010 Research in Motion removed Kik from the Blackberry app world and also limited the use of software for it's users. RIM also sued Kik Interactive for patent infringement and for the misuse of trademarks. The terms were undisclosed after the lawsuit was settled. They bought GIF messenger and had a 38 million dollars in funding in 2014. They got the money from Valiant Capital Partners. By the time they got this money they had raised about 70 million dollars. Kik interactive received 50 million dollars from Chinese Internet Giant which is a parent company of WeChat. The investments earned by the company had a valuation of 1 billion dollars.
